Introduction

The Healthcare Data Lake project is an open-source Terraform project that makes it easy to deploy a secure clinical research environment in minutes.

Originally created by students at the University of Bristol in partnership with the local NHS, this codebase was intended to help healthcare organisations aggregate their data silos into a secure research environment for various analytics use cases.

The data lake was built to provide enough flexibility for developers to switch out or add extra data ingestion methods. In version 1 we implemented a RESTful FHIR endpoint and another team of developers ("Data Simulation Team") have tested it with fake EHRs.
